Revision Rap created with students at Morpeth School, London as part of a Humanities project
When we think about human behaviour
People talk about nurture and nature
Nurture – that means the way you’re raised
Nature means genes and DNAs
Your genes can affect your ways from the start
But the society you live in also plays a part
Customs and norms, if you notice and embrace them
This is known as the process of socialisation
As we go from families to schools
From friends and teachers we learn different rules
This is particularly true in your teenage years
That you are influenced by your peers
The family is the first place for socialising me
This socialisation – we call it primary
Then the wider society is also affecting me
This socialisation – we call it secondary
And stories and images we see in the media
Can convince us we should be skinnier or greedier
Fashion, behaviour and language we may alter
Against the dominant group as part of a subculture
